Extraction

Well, the day came....we finally got to extract our first batch of honey. The whole family took part and excitement was pouring out of each one of us. We wondered how much we would get. We hope to have enough to pass around to friends and family. The pale of honey is only half full so we can estimate. We only had about a dozen frames, six of which are from a second harvest and a very different taste...maybe thistle?

Now we gave the frames back to the bees to clean out. We'll check on those in a couple of days.

I cannot wait to play with the wax too!
